LAUTECH Students Stages Non Violent Protest in Ogbomoso

Hundreds of students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology LAUTECH in Ogbomoso on Monday protested against the lingering industrial action embark upon by the teaching and non teaching staff union of the institution.

They school was closed due to non availability of funds to pay workers salary and sustain the tempo of development  

As early as 7 am on Thursday the students who protested under the aegis of “Concerned Students barricaded the major entrance into Ogbomoso and its environs.


Attempt by some motorists who are members of the NURTW was vehemently resisted by the student at Takie junction in the town.

They had during the weekend appealed to the Governor of Osun state, Rauf Aregbesola and his Oyo state counterpart, Abiola Ajimobi, to come together and find a solution to the workers strike.
Some of the students told alarinkaagbaye.com that the essence is to further sensitize the public on the nonchalant attitude of government towards the institution’s workers and the students .

“ They are wasting our precious time, we are not getting longer anymore, time  we need to graduate on time and move to another level, please help us tell them that we are tired , they should  whatever is causing this problem and let us resume.


They however appealed to the two governors to pay the Earned Academics Allowance of ASUU members, which they alleged was paid last in 2012.

Meanwhile, Officers of the Nigeria Police later brokered peace, guided the protesting students to have a peaceful protest till it lasted.


Confirming the protest, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adekunle Ajisebutu, said the protest was non-violent.
