Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State on Thursday said that over 120 companies from China have been invited and ready to establish in the state during the state government's official visit to the country recently.

speaking at a town hall meeting in Ibadan  the governor said  50 companies alone from the 127 companies can turn the fortune of this state to become the foremost industrialized state in the country. Part of the industries that will be established by the Chinese companies are cassava farming and its processing industries.

"The economic situation in the country requires rethinking, re-strategising, and diversification of our economy. Therefore the Chinese invitation will facilitate farm plantation, factories and therefore making the state to be well industrialized", he said.

Similarly, the governor noted that the state is a logistic centre that could enhance free trade with neighboring states from the the North and the East.

He therefore said agriculture must be the first priority because of its multiplier effect adding that the state government intended to embark on mechanized farming to boost efficiency in the sector.

He also said the state will be a sister trade zone to Lagos and Ogun States where the two states will get raw materials in Oyo State to transform to finished material in their states.

Governor Ajimobi who said the town hall meeting was also to launch a new education policy, stating that another area of the government's concentration is education because the students in the state have been performing woefully in their examinations.

He said, "it is against this backdrop we insisted on not promoting non-performing students saying this is the reason some students who alleged mass failure set their school on fire.
We must inculcate discipline in the education sector and eschew all form of vices by the students.

"We have therefore concluded that elders from each community will form the governing council that will supervise the employed teachers by the government", the governor said.
