No fewer than 88 private school operating without government licence have been shut down in Kwara state by the state government within two months
Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Alhaji Musa Yeketi,Kwara disclose this in Ilorin on thursday
Delivering his address at the 2016 Day of the National Association of Proprietors of Private School, Yeketi threatened to shut more such schools in pursuit of standard education in the state.
He acknowledged the impact of private schools in complementing the state government’s efforts, and appealed to owners of the illegal schools to regularise their operations.
He asked those with sub-standard facilities to upgrade or risk sanction.
Meanwhile, NAPPS National President, Dr Sally Adukwu-Bolujoko, who was represented by the association’s Financial Secretary, Temitope Ajibola, asked government to eradicate multiple taxations on private schools.
